The closing of the Victor Valley Rescue Mission has deeply impacted our unhoused neighbors and the organizations working hard to serve them. At Women of Noble Character, we have seen this need firsthand and are working with our community partners to step in where we can.
Doubling of Meals and Snack Bags
Since the closure, the number of daily meals and snack bags needed has doubled. This increase has stretched resources and volunteers across all agencies, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
Showers Put on Hold
Weekly showers that once ran across three sites—Women of Noble Character, Victor Valley Rescue Mission, and Church of the Valley—have been temporarily paused as volunteers search for a sustainable way to restart the program. The pause has left many without consistent access to hygiene, but thankfully, new partners are stepping in.
Symba Center is working through the legal process to take on the program permanently and bring the showers back.
Set Free Church has generously offered its site to cover the Rescue Mission’s former shower day.
Rising Needs for Clothing and Hygiene Kits
Because of the temporary shutdown of showers, the demand for clothing and hygiene items has also doubled. Our unhoused neighbors need basics—clean socks, undergarments, body wipes, soap, and more—now more than ever.
Client Concerns and Community Fear
Many clients have expressed worry that the closure of the Victor Valley Rescue Mission could be the start of other agency shutdowns. The uncertainty has added emotional strain to an already difficult situation, making it even more critical that agencies like Women of Noble Character remain consistent in their services.

Women of Noble Character’s Commitment Continues
Even in the face of these challenges, Women of Noble Character continues to serve our community. We remain committed to:
Offering hot meals every week
Distributing clothing and hygiene kits
Providing our Shower Mondays whenever possible
Our mission is to stand in the gap, and we will not stop showing up for those who rely on us.
How You Can Help
With demand doubling across the board, we need our community more than ever. You can support by:
Donating clothing, socks, and hygiene items
Volunteering your time
Contributing financially to sustain meal and shower programs
Together, we can ensure that the loss of the Victor Valley Rescue Mission does not mean a loss of dignity and care for our neighbors.
A Word of Hope
Though these times bring uncertainty, we hold onto God’s promise: “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). At Women of Noble Character, we believe that with faith, community, and compassion, we will continue to meet the growing needs of our neighbors and remind them they are never forgotten.
